15 Modern Chairs You’d Hate to Sit On
Nothing beats watching a movie, reading a book, or playing video games in your favorite comfy lounge chair. The following modern chairs however, probably won’t fit that same need. They’re a mix of art and mad science … not things that I’d trust my tush to.
The Disposture is a modern chair that the uncanny resemblance to a bunch of french fries. It was created by design students to encourage poor posture which highlights the long term effects of slouching.
Made out of piano hammers and keys, you probably wouldn’t want to sit on this chair. Even though it has the structural integrity to hold your body weight, it was made as an artistic piece to hang on the wall.
The Wool Chair, created by Architecture Uncomfortable Workshop, a Budapestian architecture and furniture design firm, was made for the Warming Hut competition. Although it may look comfortable to sit on, this modern chair’s underlying structure is pointy and ribbed.
Made entirely out of sharpened pencils. Enough said.
This may be the most comfortable modern chair in our list. This cardboard creation is one item in a long line created by Illinois design form Charigami. While it’s probably perfect for a brief use (think of conferences), I personally wouldn’t want to sit on it for too long.
